Facing Anxiety is a 10 week group program designed for people whose anxiety significantly impacts negatively on their lives. The program aims to help people face the psychological and physical elements of anxiety including high arousal, worry, avoidance, panic and social anxiety. The Facing Anxiety group program draws upon key processes for change derived from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Each week's content builds upon the previous week's content as participants learn different components of the Facing Anxiety Model and ultimately learn to apply the entire model to their anxiety provoking experiences. Past Facing Anxiety participants found the group format valuable as it enabled them to engage with other individuals who were experiencing anxiety thus normalising their experience. Furthermore, all of the participants made significant improvements in facing many of anxiety provoking situations that they had been avoiding prior to attending the group. Overall the program has found to be successful in aiding people to face their anxiety.
